BIRD OF THE DAY
The Song Sparrow (Melospiza Melodia) breeds locally in Alaska and Mexico, and across much of Canada, the United States. The southern populations and northern populations along the west coast are sedentary, while the northern inland populations are migratory birds that winter in the southern United States and Mexico. The Song sparrow prefers shrubby areas and wetlands, including salt marshes.
