BIRD OF THE DAY
The Rock Dove (Columba livia), includes the domesticated domestic pigeon, and escaped populations of domestic pigeons that gave rise to the urban pigeon. The Rock Dove has its natural range along the coast of Scotland, locally in Ireland, the Faroe Islands, in western and southern Europe, North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula and South Asia, as far east as India. The Rock Doves are relatively stationary and rarely leave their local areas. The species (including city pigeons) are widespread.
