The Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea) is a long migratory bird that breeds in northern Siberia, the Yamal Peninsula and east to Tjaunskajabukten, and the New Siberian Islands and the Wrangel island. The species winters mainly in Africa, but also winter in South and Southeast Asia and Australasia. The bird is usually seen in western Europe during the autumn migration to the south.
