| Willow Grouse |
The Willow Grouse or Willow Ptarmigan (Lagopus lagopus) has a circumpolar distribution in the northern areas of the Holarctic, in Europe, Asia and North America. The Willow Grouse is a resident bird or short migrant throughout it's range, but in winter the bird often stay at lower levels in protected environments.
The Willow Grouse is primarily herbivores, but growing chicks may also eat insects.
