The Black-necked Grebe(Podiceps nigricollis) breeds in a fairly large range in the northern hemisphere, they breed at lakes in Europe, Asia, Africa and America. Most of the world population is migratory birds, but for example in Western Europe there are several sedentary bird populations and the African population is sedentary. The North American population winters mainly in lakes in the southwestern U.S. and Mexico, and along the U.S. west coast.
The Black-necked Grebe is an accomplished swimmer and diver and chase prey under water. Its diet consists of fish, aquatic insects and larvae.
