The northern bald ibis, hermit ibis, or waldrapp (Geronticus eremita)was once widespread across the Middle East, northern Africa, southern and central Europe. The Firecrest (Regulus ignicapillus) breeds in southern and central Europe, southern England and in the east it occurs as far east as the former Soviet Union. The Firecrest also breeds in western Turkey and northwestern Africa.
